Lee Mack has previously been the proud holder of both the world record for the most darts number twos in one minute, and for the most darts in the inner and outer bullseye ring in one minute! Surprised? We don’t blame you…

You would have no doubt heard the name ‘Lee Mack’, you would then naturally associate the name with comedy and the world of show business – and for this you would be excused.

The Guinness Story…

As an avid darts fan, Lee is no doubt incredibly proud of this achievement (we’re also very proud of you Lee!) working it into his performance on Would I lie to you – the popular British television show. The panel consisted of David Mitchell, Romesh Ranganathan and David Haye - who weren’t even remotely convinced by this elaborate story. 

The first record Lee held was for dropping the most darts on number two in one minute. This record didn’t previously exist, because nobody had ever attempted it before. However, Guinness - in their wisdom - set a minimum standard of 14…Lee landed 18! He held this record until 19 November 2020 until it was broken by Ricky Evans who broke the record with a total of 25 darts landing on the number two in a minute. 

Lee also held the record for the most (15) darts in the inner and outer bull’s eyes in one minute.  This was a record he held until 23 September 2016; this was until professional darts player – James Wade – broke it. 

Other Darts World Records

The Highest Average – Peter Wright 

Peter wright holds the record for the highest average in darts. In October 2019, Wright set a new world record average of 123.53 at a PDC Players Championship. 

The Most Number of 180’s in a Tournament – Gary Anderson

Best known for throwing darts with sublime ease, Anderson boasts a total number of 64 maximums in a single tournament! 

Most 9-Darters (In Front of TV Cameras) – Phil Taylor

Many have speculated that the more the sport of darts rises in popularity, we will naturally see better players emerge and so we are more likely to see historical bars shattered! Nevertheless, the legend that is Phil Taylor managed to play the perfect game eleven times. 

As a notable mention, Michael van Gerwen is already on eight 9-darters and will no doubt catch Phil Taylor’s record in the next few years. 

Most conceded 9-Darters to date

James Wade has seen seven 9-darters land against him, definitely not the sort of statistic you want to be known for – especially when you consider that Phil Taylor managed to land two 9-darters at once against Wade!
